Ive been using the app for the past two weeks. The problems are very interesting and I feel like Im improving. Keep up the good work!
This is a very good chess app. A wide variety of puzzles. I really enjoy spending time with it. Challenging and rewarding.
With a total of 2,250 puzzles (after purchasing all the available packs), I think this app is certainly worthwhile. I recommend my students follow the Michael de la Maza "Rapid Chess Improvement Program" suggestion and do all of them seven (!) times. Personally, Im on my third time around as of this post.
I love the daily puzzles and the analyze function is awesome -- so much prefer that to reading alternate positional play.
Ive enjoyed working the puzzles but have the same issue as some others. The puzzle has a set solution and doesnt recognize different methods to win even if it is shorter
This app is very simple, but it does the job well. It offers a bunch of chess tactics puzzles for you to solve. You can analyze board positions with a built in chess engine if you want to understand things better after seeing a puzzles solution.
You get 6 free puzzles daily, plus 150 free puzzles in their library. You can also purchase separate packs that give you a few hundred puzzles for only $1.99 each. Pricing is very reasonable, and its totally possible to just use the app for free.
Some bad moments
The app "calculates" the "best move" but terribly fails in taking into account sacrificing pieces and losing points to prevent checkmate...
Use this app to wake up my brain every morning. Chess puzzles are amazing invention.
Concerning namely app. Behaves just as it expected. Very convenient.
The order of challenges designed for efficient learning. After completing a challenge, you can continue the game against the computer by using the "analyze" function which indicates where opponent should move next. Not alway clears what response (toward checking or capturing) is required. No complaints other than I wish I was better at it...
Great puzzles, nice diversion from a busy day. Look forward to the challenges daily.
Fun app to pass a few to several minutes working on puzzles. On some of the medium to advanced puzzles, it isnt always clear why one move is superior to another, e.g. you have to sort of guess what the computer aims to do. Of course, that is probably because I am a novice player.
A major improvement would be to include a one or two liner as to what a move or sequence of moves aims to achieve on the more difficult puzzles when it is not immediately obvious to the novice player.
Said my correct answer was wrong, clicked hint and it told me to do what I just did, clicked answer and it reconfirmed I got it right, made the right move again just to check and still said it was wrong - its broken.
Also, its annoying that you cant turn off legal move highlighting. I know how the pieces move, so this is just a distraction and theres no way to turn it off.
